The University of Helsinki is one of the world’s leading universities for multidisciplinary research. The Research Services provides customer-oriented support for researchers in all research-related matters from applying for research funding, and administering projects to dealing with legal matters, and promoting the applicability of research. Within the Research Services, a Project Coordination unit offers professional administrative support for ongoing projects during the whole life cycle of the project.

We are now seeking a PROJECT COORDINATOR for a fixed-term 10.1.2022 – 31.12.2025

The employee will work in the University of Helsinki Meilahti campus supporting the Translational Immunology Research Program (TRIMM) and Hematology Research Unit both led by Professor Satu Mustjoki. In the TRIMM program, the regulation of human immune system and possibilities to utilize it in the diagnostics and treatment of autoimmune diseases and cancer are key research topics. In the Hematology Research Unit we aim to discover novel treatments for blood cancers and related autoimmune diseases.

The duties
The successful candidate will assist in the coordination and administration of the research program together with its leader and other researchers. The tasks include planning and organizing events, meetings, and training, facilitating collaboration with partner organizations and institutions, and communications between the partners and to public. In addition, the duties may involve support in other administrative work such as coordination of reporting, contract preparation and permission applications as well as helping in finances and HR-related tasks. Support in applying for new research funding, managing the ongoing projects, and liaising national and international collaboration are emphasized in the tasks of the research group.

Requirements
The candidate should have excellent organizational, communication and problem-solving skills, a strong capability to work independently as well as cooperate harmoniously with research staff. Experience in project coordination and management in projects with international staff are appreciated. The candidate should have fluency in written and spoken English, knowledge of Finnish or other European languages will be an advantage. Studies in relevant fields of science such as biomedical or life sciences are a benefit.

The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience based on the University salary system and will in the beginning of the employment be approximately 3000 - 3200 €/month.
