About the lab

A postdoc position is available in the group of Prof. Mo Lamkanfi at the Ghent University Department of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, located at the Medical Research Building 2 of the Ghent University Hospital Campus in Ghent, Belgium. The Lamkanfi lab, also called the Laboratory of Medical Immunology, focuses on the characterization of inflammasome signalling and lytic cell death pathways that contribute majorly to chronic inflammatory diseases and play a crucial role in host defense against microbial pathogens. Where possible, the research group aims to translate the fundamental knowledge generated into the design of novel therapeutic and diagnostic tools (e.g. PMID: 32312770; PMID: 31525186).

Job description

The Lamkanfi lab has a longstanding interest in inflammasome mechanisms and their roles in human diseases. You will work on a granted project of the Research Foundation – Flanders that aims to define and characterize novel signaling pathways that modulate inflammasome activation and pyroptosis induction in novel mouse models of inflammatory diseases and in primary hematopoietic and epithelial cells of human and murine origin. The successful applicant will also apply retroviral transduction and CRISPR/Cas9-based screening technologies to discover new regulators of inflammasome activation in primary cell systems.
