The Centre for Health Economics Research and Modelling Infectious Diseases (CHERMID ) is part of the Vaccine & Infectious Disease Institute (VAXINFECTIO) at the UA and of the SIMID consortium. CHERMID is a multidisciplinary research centre conducting methodological and applied research on mathematical modelling and the economics of public health, mainly vaccination. VAXINFECTIO, including CHERMID, is involved in several European Commission funded projects and is Collaborating Centre of the World Health Organization. 

CHERMID in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is looking for a full-time (100%) postdoctoral Research Fellow.

Position

  • You will support various research projects at CHERMID, collaborating closely with other researchers with complementary skills. In particular, you will be involved in the European RESCEU project (http://resc-eu.org ).
  • You will adjust an existing cost-effectiveness model for evaluating RSV interventions to the Europe setting. The model is implemented in R software (‘mc-marcel’, https://zenodo.org/record/3663447#.YOMFBS0Rq3U).
  • You will manage and analyze data from several European countries and implement them in the model (e.g. RSV hospital admission data).
  • You will use the model to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of different interventions against RSV, including sensitivity and scenario analysis.
  • You will report study results in writing and orally in the national and international scientific community.
  • You will also assist in management and analysis of other data that result from the RESCEU project (http://resc-eu.org ).

Profile

  • You hold a Master degree in economics (eg, Applied, Social or Health Economics, Commercial Engineering), statistics, biostatistics, pharmaceutical or biomedical sciences and you have obtained a doctoral degree relevant to the subject of health economic evaluation
  • You can demonstrate very good study results.
  • You can demonstrate very good quantitative skills, covering experience in working with R.
  • You can demonstrate very good writing skills.
  • You have good communicative skills, and a collaborative and multidisciplinary interest.
  • You have thorough knowledge of English, both oral and written.
  • Thorough knowledge of Dutch and/or French is an asset, but not required.
  • Your research qualities are in line with the faculty and university research policies .
  • You act with attention to quality, integrity, creativity and cooperation.

What we offer

  • We offer a position in line with your experience for a period of 9 months (academic year Oct 1st 2021- June 30th 2022). Following a positive evaluation and sufficiently available funds, the position can be renewed.
  • The planned start date is  1st October 2021 or as soon as possible after that date.
