Job description

In the framework of an FWO project “Goods and Bads among the genus Burkholderia : do proteases and amidases make the difference ?” (Profs Bart Devreese and Peter Vandamme) we are looking for a Postdoctoral scientist for a period of 3 years. This research involves the sequencing, annotation and comparative genomics of bacteria in the genus Burkholderia, including biochemical experiments to study the role of proteases and other hydrolases in virulence. The postdoctoral staff is also involved in guidance of master- and PhD students working in this field.

Profile of the candidate
  • you have a PhD degree, preferably in the field of Biochemistry, Microbiology or Biotechnology
  • You have experience in the field of sequencing, annotation and comparative genomics (bacteria).
  • You have experience in applying molecular biology tools (e.g. creating KO mutants) and setting up enzymatic assays. Any experience in proteomics is welcome 
  • You have relevant scientific publications in peer reviewed international journals 
  • you are a team player
