Job description

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in the field of (extra-)galactic astronomy at the Department of Physics and Astronomy of Ghent University. The successful candidate will work in the `DustOrigin’ group of Prof. Ilse De Looze. The successful candidate will work on modelling the dust destruction efficiency of supernova shocks experienced by interstellar dust in a realistic 3D ISM structure through the use of high-resolution hydrodynamical simulations and post-processing of the dust physics. In the long term, a full chemical and dust evolution model will be linked to these high-resolution simulations.

Job profile

Expert knowledge in hydrodynamical simulations, dust processing and/or computing skills are highly desirable for this project.

How to apply

Informal inquires are welcome (ilse.delooze@ugent.be ) and applications sent by Monday April 19, 2021 will be fully considered. Candidates must possess a PhD in Physics, Astrophysics, or a similar field. Applicants should submit their CV, letter of motivation and a statement of research interests (up to 3 pages). The candidates should also arrange for three reference letters to be sent by April 19, 2021 to ilse.delooze@ugent.be .
