The IBD team in the Animal Genomics lab seeks energetic and highly motivated 1) post-Doc scientist with a PhD degree in Genetics, Bioinformatics, or related disciplines. 2) PhD student with a master’s degree or equivalent in Genetics, Bioinformatics, veterinary/human medicine, or related disciplines.
The project aims to uncover peripheral blood and gut cell-type specific cis-eQTL driving inherited predisposition to IBD. The project is built on prior investments particularly with regards to the establishment of new cohorts and the "pre-collection" of many samples (over 10.000 samples), which have laid the foundation of what has the potential to be an important contribution to the scientific community. Furthermore, through an H2020 (SYSCID), FNRS and Welbio funded projects, we have built a network of top-notch Belgian and International laboratories with complementary expertise in genomics, immunology, and cell biology to jointly develop a pipeline to systematically interrogate IBD-relevant functions of GWAS-identified candidate genes to select promising new drug targets.
