Updated: over 2 years ago
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 09 Feb 2022

Description

http://www.vib.be/en/research/scientists/Pages/Patrik-Verstreken-Lab.aspx The Verstreken lab is part of https://cbd.vib.be/ the VIB-KU Leuven Center for Brain & Disease Research at the University of Leuven (Belgium), which ranks among the world’s top 50 universities. At our center, 340 researchers are studying the fundaments of how the brain works and what goes wrong in disease.

Our lab, Lab of neuronal communication, is trying to understand the molecular mechanisms of synaptic function in health and neurodegenerative disease. Using fruit flies and human neurons derived from patient-derived stem cells, we focus on key molecules and organelles that regulate synaptic function and how these are misregulated in Parkinson’s disease and Taupathies. With this understanding, we would like to get closer to the ultimate goal to develop cures.

We are looking for a motivated and dedicated research technician to join our team of Postdocs, PhDs, and technicians to provide hands-on support to the projects running in the lab.
