At the earliest possible date, the PLUS would like to appoint a

University Professorship for "Dogmatic Theology"

in the Department of Systematic Theology in the Faculty of Catholic Theology.

The professorship has the task of dealing with topics from the entire field of dogmatics, taking appropriate account of current issues and the history of theology and dogma in research, teaching and third mission. By reflecting on the significance of Christian faith in the past and present, dogmatics is one of the central theological disciplines at the Faculty of Catholic Theology and makes a decisive contribution to both its profile and international visibility.

Skills/Qualifications

General employment requirements are:

  • Completed degree in Catholic theology
  • Doctorate in theology (Dr.theol.) and relevant habilitation or equivalent qualification
  • Very good qualification in university didactics
  • Proof of involvement in the international scientific community (e.g. activity as a peer, relevant experience abroad, organisation of conferences, etc.)
  • excellent written and spoken German and very good English language skills.

Expected are:

  • Representation of the subject of dogmatics in its entire breadth in research and teaching
  • Excellent research achievements
  • Proven ability to connect to the three research lines of the Faculty of Theology (Intercultural and Interreligious Dynamics in their Fields of Tension and Interactions / Responsible Citizenship: Ethics, Personality Formation, Anthropology / Living Jewish-Christian and Wisdom Cultural Heritage: Pluralities, Transformations, Interdependencies) as well as to the subject "Intercultural Theology and the Study of Religions", which is part of the Department of Systematic Theology.
  • Interdisciplinary competences in cultural studies
  • Experience in university teaching and in the field of third mission
  • Willingness to work in a team and co-operate, interdisciplinarity, social skills, ability to work under pressure, flexibility
  • Experience in or ability and willingness to take on university management functions and to participate in university committees and academic self-administration
  • Participation in research and teaching collaborations at Paris Lodron University and their expansion
  • Experience in modern science management and in acquiring third-party funding
