Announcement of an open-ended position as Professor in Sociology – Sociological Theories and Social Analysis (with Consideration of the Gender Dimension) according to § 94 Sec 2 Line 1 UA at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Economics and Business at the Johannes Kepler University Linz.

The Faculty of Social Sciences, Economics and Business at the Johannes Kepler University Linz invites applications for a permanent professorship position under private law for a Professor for

Sociological Theories and Social Analysis (with Consideration of the Gender Dimension)

to begin immediately. The appointment is in accordance with § 98 of the Austrian Universities Act. An evaluation will be conducted after a five-year period.

The job holder will be concerned with the development of the social theoretical foundations of sociology as well as theories and social analysis of contemporary societies and their transformations. With a focus on social inequalities with consideration to scientific research and theoretical analysis of gender relations, the professorship is concerned with one of the central areas in sociology. The job holder is expected to collaborate with colleagues from different departments to develop new research perspectives and cooperation on the main thematic areas of the Institute of Sociology with a particular focus on social inequalities. The main thematic areas include work and the economy, care and migration, digitalisation and innovation, Europeanisation and transnationalisation, family, gender/gender relations, health and the welfare state. Requirement for the position is a habilitation or an internationally recognised comparable qualification in sociology as well as own research in the above listed areas.

A salary above the minimum amount (which is currently 81,571.00 € before taxes) as stated in the collective agreement will be voluntarily offered.
