University Assistant (prae doc)
as fellow at the Department of Nutritional Sciences

We are looking for a Ph.D. student to take part in a project in the field of molecular nutrition. The project concerns the impact of restrictive diets on the gastrointestinal tract and involves the analysis of inflammatory factors, microbiota, and metabolomics. The candidate is required to have basic skills in molecular biology laboratory techniques, statistical analysis, and fluent English. Upon hiring, the student is expected to perform analyses using qRT-PCR, western blot, HPLC, histology, and to work with a mouse model.
The contract duration is 3 years with a preliminary limitation of 1,5 years and will automatically be extended to 3 years unless the employer hands in a non-extension declaration after 12 months. An extension up to a total of 4 years is then possible provided the excellent performance of the candidate.

Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement : §48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.
Job Description:
- Participation in research, teaching and administration
- Participation in research projects / research studies
- Participation in publications / academic articles / presentations
- Participation in teaching and independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement
- Supervision of students
- Involvement in the organisation of meetings, conferences, symposiums
- Involvement in the department administration as well as in teaching and research administration
We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 months.


Profile:
- The ideal candidate should have a Master degree in Nutritional Sciences, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, and/or related areas.
- Basic skills in molecular biology laboratory techniques
- High ability to express yourself both orally and in writing
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
- IT user skills
- Ability to work in a team
- You need to have successfully passed a PhD selection
