The University of Vienna (20 faculties and centres, 184 fields of study, approx. 10.400 members of staff, about 90.000 students) seeks to fill the position as soon as possible of a University Assistant (prae doc) at the Department of Inorganic Chemistry Reference number : 13711 Our highly motivated team at the Institute of Anorganic Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry is looking for a PraeDoc researching in the area of inorganic chemistry with a special focus on nanomaterials. We offer a challenging scientific environment and a great work atmosphere. The contract duration is 3 years with a preliminary limitation of 1,5 years and will automatically be extended to 3 years unless the employer hands in a non-extension declaration after 12 months. An extension up to a total of 4 years is then possible provided the excellent performance of the candidate. Duration of employment: 3 year/s Extent of Employment: 30 hours/week Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement : §48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade. Job Description: This project focuses on the development of nanomaterials for carbon dioxide utilization. Novel nanomaterials will be designed, synthesized, characterized and their catalytical properties tested. Your tasks are: Synthesis nanomaterials, characterization of the compounds-, and nanomaterial properties and catalytical testing. Participation in research, teaching and administration: - Participation in research projects / research studies - Participation in publications / academic articles / presentations - We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 months. - Participation in teaching and independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement - Supervision of students - Involvement in the organisation of meetings, conferences, symposiums - Involvement in the department administration as well as in teaching and research administration Profile: Diploma or MSc degree in chemistry preferably in inorganic chemistry or chemical engineering or closely related fields. Knowledge in synthetic inorganic chemistry and research with nanomaterials. Team player, experience in academic teaching. Profound verbal and written skills in German and English. Desirable qualifications are - Teaching experience / experience of working with e-learning - Knowledge of university processes and structures - Experience abroad - Basic experience in research methods and academic writing.
