Open Post-doctoral Position (m/f/x) in the field of synthetic organic chemistry in the Bonifazi Group, University of Vienna. The Organic Chemistry Group of Prof. Bonifazi in the Faculty of Chemistry is currently seeking candidates for a Post-doctoral candidate with strong research experience in synthetic organic chemistry.

Your personal sphere of play:


The position is at the Institute of Organic Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry. You will be working in the field of organic synthesis of p-conjugated molecules and will work in close collaboration with the recently FWF-funded cluster of excellence MECS. The position is limited to 4 years and should be filled as soon as possible.


Your future tasks:

The candidate will actively participate in the following research activities:

  • Organic synthesis of chromophore p-conjugated molecules for applications in light-harvesting systems;
  • Development of new synthetic methodologies to form C-C bonds;
  • Development of organic carbon-based porous molecular materials for solar-fuel productions.


This is part of your personality:


  • English - A PhD degree in Chemistry with specialization in organic chemistry;
  • Strong experience in Organic Synthesis of p-conjugated molecules, multistep organic synthesis and characterization (steady state UV-vis absorption and emission & electrochemistry).
  • Specific experience in the synthesis and separation of graphenoid systems (e.g., nanoribbons or similar structures) will be considered as an added value.
