Job profile:

Main tasks: Independent scientific research (project research) in the field of ion traps, quantum and atomic physics with a focus on spontaneous emission, optomechanics and quantum optics; publication of scientific results in internationally renowned journals; project research and support in the acquisition of third-party funding projects; responsible and independent planning and implementation of high-quality teaching, especially in lab courses; supervision of students in the context of internships and Bachelor's and Master's theses; administration and activity in the context of academic self-administration; representation of the research group at scientific conferences as well as at events aimed at the public. Required qualifications: Degree in physics, doctorate in experimental physics; experimental experience proven through publications in the fields of spectroscopy and quantum optics, stored atomic ions (positive and negative) in Paul and Penning traps, experimental quantum optomechanics; experience with optical setups for atomic laser cooling, experience with the design of ion traps and ultra-high vacuum chambers as well as high-performance computing for data analysis are desirable; ability to work in a team; experience in supervising Bachelor and Master students.
