One University Assistant (m/f/d) position is available at the Chair of Functional Materials and Materials Systems of the Department of Materials Science. The expected start of the employment is 1st August 2022 with a duration of 3 years. Salary group is B1 of the Austrian labour agreement with a monthly minimum excl. supplements of € 3.058,60 for 40 hours per week (14x per year). The actual classification will be according to university guidelines and to previous relevant experience. . REF.ID 2205WPM

Tasks :

- Development of processes for the functionalization of nanoporous carbon for energy applications using non-reactive and reactive plasma-assisted methods.

- Characterization of functionalized nanoporous carbon.

- Evaluation and documentation of the obtained results.

- Preparation of publications.

- Preparation of a PhD thesis.

- Support teaching and administrative activities.

Requirements :

- Master degree in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry or an equivalent degree in relation to the desired qualification.

- Willingness and readiness to write scientific publications and to prepare a PhD thesis.

- Ability to easily communicate in English, both spoken and written.

Desirable additional qualifications :

- Knowledge in the field of plasma-assisted methods for surface modification and/or coatings (e.g. non-reactive and/or reactive plasma surface treatment, physical vapor deposition of thin films).

- Experience in the characterization of porous materials (e.g. electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, gas sorption analysis).

- Loyalty, reliability, ability to work in a team, effective communication skills, self-organized and target-oriented way of working.
