The University of Klagenfurt is pleased to announce the open position of a

Professor of English Language Education

at the Department of English, Faculty of Humanities, in compliance with the provisions of § 99 Austrian Universities Act (five years fixed term). This is a full-time position, available from 1st of October 2023.

The duties of the position include:

• Representing the field of English Language Education with a special focus on English Language Education in the Digital Age.
• Teaching in the degree programs of the Department of English (Bachelor and Master) and at PhD level.
• Advising and mentoring of students and junior academic colleagues.
• Contributing to the strategic development of the Department of English and to its international standing.
• Development of teacher education curricula in cooperation with partners in the „Entwicklungsverbund Süd-Ost (EVSO).
• Participation in university management.

Required qualifications:

• Relevant university degree and doctoral degree/PhD in English Studies.
• Excellent research and publication record in areas of English Language Education and high international impact.
• Expertise in the area of English Language Education in the Digital Age.
• Relevant university level teaching experience in areas of English Language Education.
• Excellent English language skills.
• Very good German language skills.
• Competence in the organization and leadership of teams

Additional qualifications:

• Habilitation or equivalent qualifications in English Language Education.
• Relevant secondary level teaching experience.
• Research and teaching experience in both (1) Foreign Language Didactics and (2) Literature and Culture Didactics.
• Experience in devising and carrying out third-party funded projects.
• Readiness to cooperate with partners in the „Entwicklungsverbund Südost (EVSO)“.
• Research-cooperation with partners on local and international levels.
• Experience in university management and the leadership of teams.
• Readiness to co-operate across disciplines and to contribute to one of the focal research areas at the Faculty of Humanities and the university (e.g. Visual Culture, Gender Studies, Digital Humanities).
• Competence in the field of gender mainstreaming and diversity management.

The salary is subject to negation. The minimum gross salary for a position at this level is currently € 76.130,-- per year.
