Offer Description

The Faculty of Electrical and Information Engineering of Graz University of Technology is filling a tenure track position in High Voltage Engineering pursuant to § 99 (5) of the Universities Act.

The position initially is a University Assistant with Doctorate, 40 hours per week, associated with the Institute of High Voltage Engineering and System Performance. Upon establishment of a qualification agreement, the candidate will be appointed Assistant Professor. Fulfilling the qualification agreement implies appointment as a tenured Associate Professor.

PhD-level university education in disciplines relevant for the position.

  • Outstanding scientific qualification and relevant doctorate in the field of high-voltage engineering
  • Experience in the application of machine learning in power engineering
  • Experience in the field of partial discharge diagnostics for DC voltage
  • Experience in co-supervision of doctoral students
  • Active publication activity in the areas mentioned at national and international conferences and in journals with international peer review
  • Experience of working in committees and professional associations
  • Very well established in the scientific community
  • Experience in cooperating with national and international research partners
  • Very good command of written and spoken English, willingness to learn German if not given
  • Experience in the independent holding of lectures, seminars, tutorials, laboratory exercises and examinations, including in the field of digital teaching
  • Experience in the supervision of Bachelor's, project and Master's theses
  • Experience in administrative matters in connection with teaching and examinations
  • Willingness to acquire a relevant habilitation in the corresponding subject area and to expand the range of courses offered at the institute in this regard
  • Experience in the preparation of project proposals
  • Experience in the acquisition and management of research projects
  • Willingness to participate in university self-administration

To ensure international representation of the research group and its work, excellent spoken and written competence in English is expected. Fluencey in German or the willingness to acquire it between the first 2-3 years of service is required.
