Research and teaching at the Department of English and American Studies cover language teacher education and English language as well as linguistic, literary and cultural studies. The department employs more than eighty members. Presently more than 4000 students are enrolled in its Bachelor, Masters, Diploma, PhD and Teacher Education programmes.

We are looking for a motivated candidate with a background in language testing and assessment to lead the areas of language testing and language competence and to develop, validate and maintain the standardised tests in our study programmes as senior scientist. The position is initially limited to 1 year. In case of a positive evaluation at the end of the employment period, the contract will be made permanent.

As a senior scientist in language testing you will be responsible for the continuous development, validation and maintenance of the standardized language tests that are part of our study programmes. For that purpose you will closely collaborate with staff in applied linguistics and language competence and will coordinate the team of senior lecturers in our language competence section.

The position includes teaching duties of an average 2hrs/week per semester.

We expect the successful candidate to remain up to date with the current state of research, and to be research-active in the area of language testing.

- Developing and strengthening your independent research profile

- International publications and presentations

- Involvement in research projects

- Independent teaching of courses in your area of specialization as defined by the collective agreement
