Job profile:

Senior Scientist with PhD (40 hours/week), Institute of Biochemistry starting 03/15/2023 for 4 years, possibility of tenure track in case of continued requirement and positive performance evaluation.Main Duties: Independent research activity in the field of signal transduction of the PI3K-mTOR network and metabolism under stress. Supervision of students incl. supervision of bachelor theses, if required co-supervision of master and diploma as well as PhD theses; assistance in research, teaching and administrative tasks; independent teaching of courses and holding of examinations. Supervision of the microscopy unit at the Institute of Biochemistry. Required qualifications: Degree in natural sciences (PhD. or Dr.rer.nat. in biology/chemistry); Long-term experience in the field of metabolic signal transduction; Profound knowledge in protein biochemistry (incl. immunoprecipitation and enzyme assays for kinases and methyltransferases); Confident knowledge of written and spoken English, proven by own publications as well as international experience of at least 3 years in a non-German speaking country in a natural science environment.Desired qualifications: Knowledge in biochemistry, systems biology (modeling of dynamic networks) and mass spectrometry for proteomics and post-translational modifications (phosphorylation and methylation). Detailed, methodological knowledge in imaging analyses (microscopy incl. immunoflourescence and proximity ligation assays); molecular biology knowledge (e.g. cloning, CRISPR/Cas9 editing); handling of radioactive substances (proven by certificates);German language skills; Communication skills and ability to work in a team, demonstrated by supervision of successful bachelor/master theses and technical assistants in scientific teams.
