One vacant position for a full-time Senior Scientist postdoc at the Chair of Mineral Processing at the Department Mineral Resources Engineering at the earliest possible date in a three-years fixed-term contract. Salary Group B1 of the Austrian labor agreement, monthly minimum excl. supplements € 3.945,90 for 40 hours per week.

The research activities of the Chair of Mineral Processing currently focus on topics of classical mineral processing and raw material functionalization, the processing of industrial residual materials as well as apparatus and process developments. A fundamental understanding of how to operate machines and plants as autonomously as possible is becoming increasingly important. To strengthen our team professionally, we are therefore looking for a dedicated researcher to integrate the research areas "autonomous systems", "machine learning", "virtual prototyping and analysis", "embedded smart sensing systems",„IoT und IIoT“ and "computational models".

Prerequisites: Completed doctoral studies in the fields of mining machinery engineering, mechanical engineering, automation technology, mechatronics or equivalent as defined in the announcement; willingness and ability to perform scientific work in research including related publication activities; command of written and spoken English.

Additional Requirements: The willingness to establish an own research group with the focus in the field of digitalization in mineral processing, as comprising numerical simulation, sensor and sensor data fusion as well as the analysis by means of AI technologies and new methods, the willingness to participate in teaching and research as well as chair administration are required. Experience with processing technology machines and systems and/or in the development and real-world testing of sensor systems is a great advantage.

Desired qualities: initiative and responsibility; very good communication skills with the staff of the research partners as well as of the chair, department, university and customers; organizational skills.
