Senior Lecturer in fashion drawing - Fashion Department

The University of Applied Arts Vienna is looking to appoint a Senior Lecturer in fashion drawing (m/f/d, 20 hours per week, with a fixed-term contract starting from October 15th, 2022 to June 30th, 2025 - a subsequent unlimited contract extension is possible) for the Fashion Department at the Institute of Design.

Employment requirements:

• professional aptitude in the field of fashion drawing (supported by evidence), e.g. acquired as part of a completed fashion education with subsequent subject-specific professional activity

Requirement profile:

• Profound expertise in the field of contemporary fashion and fashion drawing
• Profound specialist knowledge of techniques, methods, and design options for manual and digital fashion drawings as well as mixed forms, including knowledge of the relevant computer programs
• Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Suite
• Several years of subject-specific professional activity of a self-employed or employed nature (proof)
• Very good knowledge of spoken and written English as well as the necessary specialist vocabulary
• Willingness to continuously develop one's own skills and knowledge in one’s professional area
• Empathy in working with students

Responsibilities:

• Independent teaching of courses in the field of fashion drawing that cover basic knowledge to the development of an individual artistic signature
• teaching support and supervision of students in the central artistic subject (ZKF) for the creation of fashion drawings for different needs, e.g. fashion drawings of collections for portfolios
• Participation in team meetings and collaboration in the team, project-specific collaboration
• Administrative activities related to teaching/supervision

- 10 self-made fashion drawings (from simple sketches of an outfit to detailed fashion drawings, created by hand, digitally as well as mixed forms)

- Detailed teaching concept for a course with students without knowledge of fashion drawing, including learning targets and a plan for 8 teaching units of 1.5 hours each.

3. The start of the contract is ideally October 15th, 2022, a later start is possible.

The monthly minimum wage for this assignment is currently € 1,529.30 gross (14 times a year) and may possibly increase on the basis of the collective agreement regulations through the crediting of previous work-specific experience and other wage components associated with the special features of the workplace.
