Senior Lecturer

The Department of German Studies at the University of Vienna is the largest research and teaching centre in Austria, covering the fields of German language and literatures. The core areas are Modern German Literature, Medieval German Language and Literature, Germanic Linguistics, German as a Foreign and Second Language, and German Teaching Methodology. The position advertised here is within the field of German as a Second Language.

The work-group German as a Second Language (Deutsch als Zweitsprache) is led by Univ.-Prof. Dr. İnci Dirim. Here you can expect a small, dedicated team within a friendly work environment and the possibility of bringing forth and working on your own ideas.

In case of a positive evaluation at the end of the term of employment, the employment contract may be extended for an indefinite period of time.

As a senior lecturer you will be mainly involved in teaching in the academic discipline of German as a Second Language. We expect the successful candidate to remain up to date with the current state of research, to undergo continuing education and training in didactics and to conduct research, especially during the times when no classes are being held. In addition, the University of Vienna expects the successful candidate to fulfill administrative tasks, in particular the administration of teaching.
