At the Institute of Physics at the Faculty of Sciences, the University of Graz is seeking to appoint a 

Professor of Astrophysics

(40 hours per week; selection procedure in accordance with Section 98 of the Universities Act (UG); permanent employment according to the Salaried Employees Act (AngG); expected starting date October 1st 2024) 

We are looking for an astrophysicist with a core research area in the field “stellar astrophysics of low mass stars”, e.g. stellar activity, stellar structure, and stellar evolution. The post holder should be able to demonstrate internationally competitive research and networking in their area of expertise as well as be able to teach the field of astrophysics in its full range. Cooperation with the research groups at the Institute (solar and heliospheric physics) and at the Space Research Institute of the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Graz (covering planets and exoplanets, space plasmas, instrument development) as well as active collaboration in the new Graz Center of Physics is desired, with the aim of further strengthening the location of Graz and the joint development of large-scale projects. We also expect gender mainstreaming skills.
