We are looking for a Principal Investigator (m/f/d) in Cancer Cell Biology/Solid Tumors to establish a competitive independent research group embedded in the multidisciplinary and collaborative environment of the CCRI, which provides many opportunities for interaction with other research groups and institutions. Specific areas of interest include (but are not limited to) organoids/canceroids, cancer precision medicine, cancer genomics and metabolism, tumor microenvironment, cancer signalling pathways and stem cells.

As a Principal Investigator at the CCRI, you strengthen our excellent research team, which focuses on the development and research of innovative approaches for the treatment of childhood cancer. This position offers a unique opportunity to actively contribute to a multidisciplinary competence center for pediatric oncology.

As a Principal Investigator, you will

  • Lead a competitive independent research group
  • Develop and extend your ambitious scientific ideas and perform innovative medically-inspired research
  • Use state-of-the-art approaches to tackle current challenges in pediatric cancer research
  • Participate actively and further develop our processes of selecting excellent postdoctoral fellows and PhD candidates, teaching activities and supervising junior staff
  • Participate in regular institute meetings and our weekly scientific seminars
  • Apply for competitive third party funding
  • Cooperate closely with institutes in close proximity, jointly constituting the biomedical research hub of Vienna
  • Maintain a close cooperation between our research institute and the St. Anna Children’s hospital

Your profile

  • PhD-level (or equivalent) with postdoctoral research experience and a track record of scientific excellence documented by publication and funding track records
  • Scientific excellence of an independent research program in the area of cancer cell biology with a potential for clinical translation
  • Enthusiastic about developing your ambitious ideas and perform innovative medically-inspired independent research
  • Proactive team player who enjoys working across disciplines and within an international team of excellent scientists
  • Excellent management skills, high social competence and organizational skills
