Offer Description
The Department of Sustainable Agricultural Systems, Institut of Organic Farming is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate.
Extent of employment: 40 hours per week
Duration of employment: 1st of April 2024, limited to 31st of March 2026
Workplace: 1180 Vienna, Gregor-Mendel-Straße 33
Gross monthly salary and pay grade in terms of collective agreement for university staff (payable 14 times per year): B1 lit. b, € 4.752,30
Responsibilities:
- Participation in ongoing research projects in Working Group Soil Fertility and Cultivation Systems at the Institute of Organic Farming
- Independent and joint teaching and research on soil fertility and cultivation systems in organic agriculture
- Supervision or co-supervision of students bachelor's and master's theses and dissertations
- Submission of national and international research projects
- Participation in the administration of the department and the institute
- Representation of the working group in committees and networks
- Participation in BOKU's Third Mission
- Data analysis and writing of publications
Required skills and qualifications:
- Doctorate degree / PhD in a discipline related to soil
fertility/cropping systems with a topic on/relevant for organic farming - Good written and spoken German and English skills
- Sound scientifc professional experience (postdoc level)
- Sound knowledge and experience in the field of soil science and/or plant production in organic farming
- Evidence of scientific publications (journals, book chapters, etc.)
- Presentation experience (especially in a scientific context)
- Experience in carrying out research projects (naionally, but also internationally)
- Drivers licence class B
Desired skills and qualifications:
- Willingness to participate in public relations work
- Experience with submitting research projects (national but also international)
- Experience in laboratory management and laboratory leadership
- Teaching experience on soil science and/or crop production in organic farming
- Experience in field testing on farm and/or on station
