Offer Description

One vacant position for a full-time university assistant (m/f/d) at the Chair of Materials Physics, in the Department Materials Science. Start from the earliest possible date in an employment contract limited to four year. Salary Group B1 according to the Uni-KV, monthly minimum salary excl. Szlg.: € 3.578,80 for 40 hours per week (14 x per year), actual classification is according to previous relevant experience.

Job Profile:
Sample preparation and characterization of materials by materials-based techniques
Planning and execution of experiments in the field of non-equilibrium processing techniques
Evaluation and documentation of the results, preparation of publications in international journals
Presentation of the results at international conferences
Willingness to prepare a dissertation
Commitment and motivation to teaching

Requirements:
Completed degree (Dipl.-Ing./MSc) in Materials Science with a focus on Materials Physics or a related field of study, such as Physics, Technical Physics or Materials Chemistry.
Very good German and English speaking and writing performance.
Motivation, team spirit and independence.

Desired additional qualifications:
Knowledge of phase formation of modern high-performance materials under non-equilibrium processing conditions and the correlation of microstructure and mechanical properties are advantageous
Knowledge in the field of production and characterization of high-performance materials (nanocrystalline materials, amorphous metals and composites, high entropy alloys, additively manufactured materials, thin film systems)
Experience with measurement and automation software (eg. LabView)
Experience with software and modelling tools (e.g. CALPHAD, Pandat, Thermocalc, FEM simulation) etc.
