One vacant position for a full-time University Assistant at the Chair of Applied Geophysics Department Geosciences and Geophysics at the earliest possible date in a four-years fixed-term contract. Salary Group B1 of the Austrian labor agreement, monthly minimum excl. supplements € 2.971,50 for 40 hours per week.

The successful candidate holds a Master of Science degree in geophysics or a similar discipline and has a solid mathematical and physical background in wave propagation. He/she is familiar with at least one programming language. Experience with the processing and the inversion of seismic data on HPC architecture is an advantage. We expect the candidate to be highly motivated and interested to publish the results of his/her PhD-research in a scientific journal.

The focus of the work is the application of full waveform inversion to an exploration seismic dataset.
