Offer Description

One vacant position for a full-time Project Researcher (m/f/d) at the Chair of Materials Physics, in the Department Materials Science. Start from May 2024 in an employment contract limited to 18 months. Salary Group B1 according to the Uni-KV, monthly minimum salary excl. Szlg.: € 3.578,80 for 40 hours per week (14 x per year), actual classification is according to previous relevant experience.

Requirements:
Completed degree (Dipl.-Ing./MSc) in Materials Science with a focus on Materials Physics or a related field of study, such as Physics or Technical Physics
Very good English speaking and writing performance.
Motivation, team spirit and independence.

Desired additional qualifications:
Good German speaking and writing performance.
 Sound basic knowledge in the area of mechanical properties of materials.
Basic knowledge of fracture mechanics, materials testing and machine learning.
Experience with various microscopy techniques (LIMI, LSCM, SEM, ...)
Experience in the fabrication of micromechanical samples (especially using FIB).
Knowledge of fabrication and characterization of thin films and nanostructured materials.

Job Profile:
Powder-metallurgical synthesis and processing of nanostructured materials
Method development and experimental design for the characterization of local mechanical properties and failure mechanisms in thin films and nanostructured materials
Preparation, execution, evaluation and documentation of micromechanical experiments.
Collaboration with international project partners.
Preparation of publications in international journals.
Giving presentations at international conferences.
Preparation of a dissertation is possible.
Willingness and motivation to participate in teaching.
