Master Thesis „Path planning, exploration and mapping with indoor unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV)”

• Our team’s expertise is the development and deployment of assistive and autonomous systems, particularly unmanned aircrafts und land-based mobile machines, in cooperation with national and international research organisations and companies.

• Automated robotic systems perceive the environment and can classify, locate, and track objects for various applications in domain-specific areas.

• Throughout your master’s thesis project, and under the guidance of our team, you will test, validate, implement, and integrate real-time capable algorithms for path planning, exploration, and mapping with indoor UAVs.

• You will work on all necessary components to achieve full autonomy of an aerial robot in GNSS-denied environments.

• You will have the opportunity to work with different sensor systems, such as time-of-flight and RGB cameras as well as LiDAR.

• Moreover, you will support our team in the development of maintenance and service routines.

ACHIEVE

• You contribute to a rapidly growing field in aerial robotics.

• You have the opportunity to investigate the state-of-the-art and apply it in real-world scenarios and – as a final step – design a proof-of-concept demonstration.

• You will evaluate and document concepts and test-runs in predefined scenarios, and you may publish your results at a conference or in a journal.

Your qualifications as an Ingenious Partner:

• Ongoing master’s studies in robotics, mechatronics, computer science, software engineering, information and computer engineering, mathematics or similar

• Experience in programming / script languages: C++, Python

• Experience in point cloud processing

• Experience in ROS highly advantageous

• Good knowledge of verbal and written English

What to expect:

EUR 828,-- gross per month for 20 hours/week based on the collective agreement. There will be additional company benefits.
