Master Thesis “Key Context Indicators for Smart City Developments”

IMAGINE

• To support cities in their development into Smart Cities, transferability and scalability of Smart City solutions are important components for their implementation.

• You are involved in an initiative to identify the key Contexts of Smart City developments.

• As part of this master thesis, you will deal intensively with the topic of analyses of Smart City Solutions to identify success factors beyond pure performance indicators.

ENGAGE

• Under the guidance of our team, you will collect practice examples from Smart City Lighthouse projects.

• You will carry out a literature review on methodologies to describe the key contextual factors for (un-) successful solutions.

• You will create a qualitative research design (questionnaire for expert interviews).

• You will evaluate the results obtained to generate a categorization of these contextual success-factors.

ACHIEVE

• You will gain experience in the area of Smart Cities, sustainable urban development, and living labs projects.

• You will create key context indicators for the transferability of Smart city solutions.

• You will gain experience in an international group of scientists and build up your professional network.

• You will initiate and collaborate in writing scientific publications.

Your qualifications as an Ingenious Partner:

• Master’s studies in the field of Urban Planning, Integrative urban Development, Spatial information Management with cross-domain knowledge being a plus.

• Good knowledge in Social-Economic development, Smart City Strategy, Urban Development.

• Enjoyment to tackle application-oriented questions of cities

• High level of commitment and team spirit

• Good knowledge of English and German in word and writing

What to expect:

EUR 828,-- gross per month for 20 hours/week based on the collective agreement. There will be additional company benefits. You will be part of our international Young AIT network. As a research institution, we are familiar with the supervision and execution of master theses and we are looking forward to supporting you accordingly.
