Offer Description

We are recruiting a Postdoc-level Lab Scientist (f/m/d) for the Precision Oncology pillar at the St. Anna Children’s Cancer Research Institute (St. Anna CCRI) together with Labdia Labordiagnostik GmbH (Labdia).

The Precision Oncology pillar aims to support selection of more effective treatments for children and adolescents with newly diagnosed, treatment refractory or relapsing solid cancers and leukemia. Combining molecular profiling, functional chemosensitivity testing and molecular disease monitoring, the program will bridge CCRI’s long-standing translational and clinical research activities (Fetahu IS et al, Nat Commun, 2023; Peneder P et al, Nat Commun, 2021) and Labdia’s diagnostic expertise.

The Lab Scientist (f/m/d) will be responsible for the conceptualization, implementation and coordination of the Precision Oncology Program and work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of researchers and clinicians, external partner institutions/hospitals and the Research Management Office (RMO).

 
Your responsibilities

  • Develop a cutting-edge functional high-content screening platform, organoid models and integrate molecular profiling for childhood solid cancers
  • Supervision of lab technical assistants
  • Communication with various project stakeholders (oncologists, bioinformaticians, biologists, legal experts and external partner institutions/hospitals)
  • Participate and support national and international networking activities in the Precision Oncology field
  • Dissemination of project results at national and international conferences and publications
  • Coordinate acquisition of third-party funds

 

Your profile
What you bring for this position:

  • PhD degree and proven track record in life sciences or another related field
  • Knowledge in clinical oncology, or another medical-related field would be an asset
  • Proven track record in cancer genomics, drug-screening platforms or pharmacology
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English (German not required) with the ability to communicate effectively at different levels of technical knowledge is mandatory
  • Ability to work independently, self-motivated and creatively
