Your responsibilities

IST Austria strives to make the fascinating spirit of research accessible to children, teenagers, adults and school teachers who are not actively involved in science on an everyday basis. Your position and all activities of IST Austria in this field are under the strategic guidance of the Vice President for Science Education for the purpose of communicating scientific contents, as well as the importance and impact of science for society. The development and the launch of our Science Experience Center (VISTA), which will house several exhibitions, a scientific educational program as well as a gift shop and café, will support this cause.

• Further development and strategic planning of science education/outreach at IST Austria
• Launch and management of our Science Experience Center (VISTA) and the entire „VISTA“ brand, which stands for communication to non-scientist target groups
• Leading and developing the team for Science Education and our Science Experience Center (VISTA)
• Participating in the development and implementation of necessary structures and infrastructure for the Science Experience Center (VISTA)
• Promote the opening of our Science Experience Center (VISTA) by applying state-of-the-art marketing tools and communication activities in close cooperation with the Communications & Events team at IST Austria

Your profile

• Completed studies preferably in the natural or formal sciences and/or science communication
• Strong leadership/management experience in an international environment advantageous
• Substantial working experience in the field of science education, outreach and/or museum management
• High awareness of the importance of basic research for society
• Excellent command of English, German skills are a plus
• Strategic thinking and project management skills
• Team player who proactively involves and cooperates with colleagues
• Strong interpersonal & communication skills to build a network and foster collaborations
