Graduate Project Assistant (must hold a Diploma/Master’s degree) for a full-time, temporary position (can be extended) at the LIT Cyber-Physical Systems Lab

We are looking for a doctoral student (full-time to 12/31/2024 with the possibility to extend to 01/31/2028 to join our team at the Christian Doppler Labor VaSiCS (https://www.jku.at/cdl-vasics/ ) at the LIT Cyber-Physical Systems Lab (https://www.jku.at/lit/cps-lab ). We are looking for someone with software engineering background and experience or interest in research of software variability, above all in the field of control software for automated production systems.

Job Duties:

  • Conduct applied basic research as part of the Christian Doppler Laboratory VaSiCS (Mastering Variability in Cyber-Physical Production Systems) at the LIT Cyber-Physical Systems Lab
  • Develop (tool-supported) approaches to manage, model, and implement variability in production automation systems
  • Writing/develop scientific publications and presentations
  • Present research results at international scientific conferences and workshops
  • Cooperate with the industry partner of the lab
  • Writing a dissertation

Your Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate must hold a Diploma/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a corresponding discipline
  • Experiences or interest in one or several of the following research areas: software and systems variability, PLC programming, Industry 4.0
  • Experiences or interest in writing scientific publications and presenting scientific work at international conferences
  • Experiences in software engineering, especially requirements engineering, system design, implementation, etc., and current programming languages (esp. Java) and development tools (esp. Eclipse)
  • Strong german and english language skills (at least on level C1)
  • Ability to work as part of a (research) team
