One vacant position for a fully employed scientific Project Reseacher (m/f/d) at the Chair of Waste Processing Technology and Waste Management in the Department of Environmental and Energy Process Engineering at the beginning of 01.03.2022 in a 3-year fixed-term employment contract. Salary grade B1 according to the Uni-KV, monthly minimum salary excl. Szlg.: € 2.971,50 for 40 hours per week (14 x per year), actual classification is according to previous relevant experience.

Requirements : Completed Diplom or Master study at a university with focus on waste management / circular economy, environmental engineering (process engineering, waste technology, recycling technology), raw materials engineering (mineral processing, ceramics) or materials sciences (ceramics, mineralogy)

German and English skills B2 according to the European Reference Framework for Languages

Desired additional qualifications :

Knowledge in the field of refractories

Knowledge of mineralogical methods (microscopy, electron microprobe)

Knowledge of waste management methods (material flow analyses, life cycle assessment)

Practical experiences and knowledge in sensor-based sorting

Team and communication skills, self-initiative, and self-responsibility

Tasks:

Participation in the EU-funded project ReSoURCE (Refractory Sorting Using Revolutionising Classification Equipment) within a dissertation with the following aims:

· Identification, quantifcation, and characterization of refractory wastes in the EU

· Quantitative description and evaluation of the fate of refractory wastes in European waste management systems

· Identification of the legal, technical, economic, and ecological obstacles impacting refractory recycling

· Development of a robust waste management concept for refractory recycling

Participation in administrative work of the Chair is expected.
