One vacant position for full-time University Assistant at the Chair of Mining Engineering and Mineral Economics in the Department of Mineral Resources Engineering beginning as soon as possible on a temporary employment contract lasting 3 years.

Master degree in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry or an equivalent degree in the sense of the desired qualification; willingness and readiness to write scientific publications and to prepare a PhD thesis; fluent in English in word and writing.

Tasks: Development of functional thin films and nanoparticles, with a special focus on their characterization. Establishment of optimized sample preparation strategies and multi-method characterization techniques for high-resolution correlative investigation of synthesis-structure-property relations. Support in specification, purchasing, installation and implementation of scientific equipment for synthesis of thin films and nanoparticles as well as materials characterization.

Desirable experience in the following areas:

- Experience in the characterization of materials (e.g. electron microscopy, focused ion beam methods, atom probe tomography, X-ray diffraction).

- Knowledge in the field of plasma-assisted vapor deposition of thin films and/or nanoparticles.

- Loyalty, reliability, ability to work in a team, effective communication skills, self-organized and target-oriented way of working.
