Full-time 3 years limited Senior Scientist at the Chair of Design of Steels- RefID 2106WPE

One vacant position for full-time Senior Scientist at the Chair of Design of Steels in the Department of Material Sciences beginning as soon as possible on a temporary employment contract lasting 3 years.

Within the Department of Materials Science, research is done at the highest international level to achieve a profound understanding of the structure and properties of materials and materials systems. We are a young team that has specialized in the field of microstructural and high-resolution characterization of metallic materials and we would like to strengthen our scientific team.

Requirements: Ph.D. in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry or an equivalent degree in the sense of the desired qualification; willingness and readiness to do scientific research and teaching at university; experienced in writing scientific publications; fluent in English in word and writing.

Tasks: Research and teaching in the field of metallic structural materials with a focus on steels. Establishment of optimized sample preparation strategies and multi-method characterization techniques for high-resolution correlative investigation of structure-property relations. Support in specification, purchase, installation and implementation of scientific equipment for materials characterization.

Desirable experience in the following areas:

- Experience in the characterization of materials (e.g. transmission electron microscopy, focused ion beam methods, nanoindentation, X-ray diffraction and atom probe tomography).

- Loyalty, reliability, ability to work in a team, effective communication skills, self-organized and target-oriented way of working.
