The Department of Practical Theology seeks to fill the permanent position from 1st October 2022 of a

Full Professorship in Pastoral Theology

The professor represents the subject of pastoral theology in its entire extent in research and teaching. Teaching concerns all theological and religious education programmes offered at the faculty. The tasks also include participation in the development and design of new cross-over study programmes, which, for example, combine theological competences with competences in economics and communication studies. In addition, participation in the faculty's thematic priorities in the areas of “Cultures – Religions – Identities” and “Intercultural Theology and the Study of Religions” is expected. Finally, committed cooperation with non-university church and social institutions is desired.

General requirements include:

  • relevant academic training and a PhD/doctorate appropriate to the advertised position;
  • certified qualification to teach at university level (venia docendi) or equivalent;
  • an outstanding research record;
  • suitable pedagogical and didactical skills;
  • academic leadership skills;
  • evidence of integration into the international scientific community (e.g. participation in peer-review processes, experience abroad, etc.);
  • good fluency in both written and spoken German.
