Full Professorship in Global History

The Professorship in Global History is responsible for a broadly conceived subject with numerous methodological and theoretical approaches. With regard to research and teaching, candidates are expected to represent a wide range of theoretical, temporal and spatial dimensions (for example, through topics such as the study of trans-cultural networks, knowledge circulation, international migrations, global economic entanglements, climate history, colonialism, imperialism, or de-colonization). A prerequisite for this post is a research focus in Global History between 1500 and the present, with an emphasis on interactions between Europe and extra-European regions. Applicants are expected to be open to a range of methodological approaches and perspectives and to the integration of Digital Humanities into research and teaching. They should also be prepared to offer historical perspectives on current economic, social and environmental issues in public discussions and media discourse.
