A qualification agreement can be concluded after a contract duration of two years (§ 27 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement). What to expect
For firms with international operations, the digital transformation is a massive source of change. It offers enormous potential for informing managerial decision-making for example regarding how to approach and serve foreign markets (e.g. by using digital platform-based business models), to manage foreign subsidiaries, to select innovative startups for collaboration, or to govern and optimize cross-border flows of capital, products, and knowledge (e.g. by applying AI/ machine learning). It also comes with significant challenges including the acquisition of analytical capabilities to make effective use of large amounts of information or the ability to collaborate with AI tools.
Join us in working on these topics and profit from the many research funding opportunities at WU and the institute (some of which are related to the well-funded project “Headquarters in Austria”), the existing corporate partner base, a diverse team, an international research network at top tier universities, a transparent tenure and career path, and a competitive package.
The holder of the tenure track position is expected to
- complement and strengthen the existing research foci of the Institute for International Business (Team Nell) by investigating the impact of the digital transformation on the behavior, strategy, and structure of internationalizing or internationally operating managers and firms.
- develop a strong international reputation in research by publishing in top tier outlets in line with the Department’s list of leading international journals.
- participate actively in international conferences and present and discuss research with scholars around the world.
- collaborate on existing research projects, for example on culture and its influence on the use of AI in decision making, or on problem solving processes involving AI/machine learning systems. Most projects involve quantitative data and many include experimental designs. Some of the projects are conducted with top corporate partners and organizations such as the United Nations.
- teach four courses per year (total of 90 contact hours per year) in WU’s Digital Economy Master program as well as in other programs of the department such as the CEMS Master or the Bachelor program on International Business. Thereby, profit from a highly motivated and engaged student base.
- supervise Bachelor and Master theses; co-supervise PhD students
- support external funding and third mission activities
