Job ID: IWF103AS121
The Space Research Institute (IWF ) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW ), Austria’s leading non-university research and science institution, has been studying the physics of space plasmas and the atmospheres of planets inside and outside our solar system for 50 years. With about 100 employees from twenty nations, it is one of the largest institutes of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW). The IWF is offering a position as
Academy Scientist (f*m)
in Space Plasma Physics
(full-time, 40h per week)
The space plasma physics group at IWF Graz is involved in quite a number of different magnetospheric missions, i.e., Cluster, THEMIS, MMS, BepiColombo/Mio. With the upcoming SMILE mission studies of new comprehensive coupling studies of the solar wind-magnetosphere-ionosphere/exosphere systems becomes possible. These interaction processes between fully ionized plasma and partially ionized plasmas and neutrals will be also an important topic for other solar system bodies.
Your profile:
- The applicant must hold a PhD in physics, geophysics, astrophysics, or a related field
- Extensive experience in analysis of spacecraft data from different instruments and proven records of achievements in several topics in the relevant research area, in particular in magnetosphere-ionosphere coupling, is a prerequisite
The institute invites applications for an academy scientist position in the area of space plasma physics who specializes in analysing multi-point spacecraft data for studies of solar wind-magnetosphere-ionosphere coupling processes. The position is available for up to six years.
We offer an annual gross salary of € 49.718,34 according to the collective agreement of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW).
Please send your application including (1) a curriculum vitae, (2) a list of publications, (3) statement of the past and current research experience (up to 2 pages), (4) certificates for full academic record, and (5) up to three names of references with the full contact information in a single PDF file via email to [email protected] , mentioning Job ID: IWF103AS121, no later than November 30, 2021.
