Part-time, 20 hours/week

You want to better understand how politics affects economics and how economics affects politics? You want to learn more about the politics of trade, investment, and finance? If so, apply for a Research Assistant position at the Institute for International Political Economy. You will assist in the production of cutting-edge research. This position offers the opportunity to sharpen your research skills in preparation for applications to PhD positions or jobs at research institutes, think tanks, and advocacy organizations.

What to expect
- Support for ongoing research activities of the institute in the area of international political economy (e.g. data collection, data management, statistical analyses, literature research, case studies, etc.)
- Support for teaching tasks in the bachelor's and master's programs (creation of learning documents, support with examinations, etc.)
- Participation in general organizational and administrative tasks of the institute (such as organizing events and activities for current students and alumni, etc.)
What you have to offer
- Excellent command of either Stata or R
- Strong skills concerning the creation and maintenance of large quantitative datasets
- Ability to conduct statistical analyses
- Experience with firm-level data an advantage
- Experience with financial databases (such as Bloomberg, etc.) a plus
- Knowledge of data collection tools such as web-scraping or text analysis a plus.
- Knowledge of advanced quantitative methods (time series, GIS, network analysis, design of survey experiments, etc.) is an advantage
- Experience and/or interest in innovative didactic approaches to teaching at the university level
- Interest in developing new ways of engaging students
- Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English
- Good knowledge of German an advantage
