Zema Energy Studies Scholarship
The Zema Energy Studies Scholarship has been established to honour the memory of AEMO’s founding Chief Executive Officer, energy reform leader and Monash alumnus Matt Zema, and is designed to support the next generation of leaders to meet Australia's energy sector challenges. It was created with the support of the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) Energy Council and in partnership with the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) .
This prestigious PhD scholarship opportunity will empower you to build on your passion, gain exposure, and contribute to the energy community. You will work with supervisors from the engineering , information technology , and business & economics faculties to explore and solve pressing energy problems. You will work collaboratively with the energy sector, enabling you to establish an industry presence and develop leadership networks.

The energy sector is transitioning rapidly. This transformation is a great opportunity do highly impactful research. It also means that there are exciting collaborations between academia and industry, like the Zema Energy Studies Scholarship.
Am I eligible?
You must be one of the following:
- An Australian citizen
- Australian permanent resident
You must meet the following criteria:
- have submitted a scholarship application in the current year;
- meet Monash's competitive scholarship selection process requirements ; and
- meet Monash English language proficiency requirements.
Benefits
The Zema Energy Studies Scholarship provides a living allowance top up (stipend).

Selection criteria
You must demonstrate:
- Passion for solving pressing energy problems in Australia
- A vision to contribute to the energy community
- A desire and potential to collaborate across diverse disciplines for working on Australian’s energy sector challenges
- Eagerness to have the opportunity to establish an industry presence and develop leadership networks
To retain this scholarship:
- Enrolment in the postgraduate coursework program approved by Monash Scholarship committee.
- Must maintain full-time enrolment
