About The Bouverie Centre

The Bouverie Centre is a values-based Practice-Research-Translation Centre within the School of Psychology and Public Health at La Trobe University. The Centre has a vision of healthy relationships in families, organisations and communities and integrates clinical practice, practice and service development, academic training in family therapy and research. Our research aims to understand how relationships and circumstances affect abilities to develop well, to care for ourselves and others, and to manage challenging times, at all stages in life, in all cultures, for all people. We work closely together with stakeholders to create meaningful research findings that support the well-being of individuals and families, and serve multiple practice, policy, public health, and research purposes.

The Centre receives recurrent funding from the Mental Health and Wellbeing Division of the Victorian Department of Health and also generates income through fee-for-service work with a diverse range of health and human service.

About the position

This position is located within the Practice and Service Development program of The Bouverie Centre and will report to a Team Leader within this program. The role of this program is to build the capability of services to work effectively with families and ultimately to improve the experiences of care and outcomes for those receiving services. This is achieved through implementation projects involving training, consultation and practice support. Consistent with The Bouverie Centre’s research role, these projects include a strong emphasis on data collection, evaluation and research to build knowledge about how to best implement evidence informed practices within services. The Practice and Service Development program has a funded role in relation to Victoria’s mental health and alcohol and other drugs services and also undertakes fee for service work with a diverse range of other health and human services across Victoria, nationally and internationally. The position also involves providing family therapy to a small caseload of families within the centre’s clinical program.
