The Opportunity

Under the leadership of our new Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Sharon Pickering, Monash is seeking to appoint an exceptional individual to the position of Vice-President (Strategy and Major Projects) and Vice-Chancellor’s Chief of Staff.

The position will oversee a range of significant strategic and operational matters across the Monash Group (including controlled entities, joint ventures and international campuses), be the principal conduit to and driver of action on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, and be the portfolio lead for the Vice-Chancellor’s portfolio.

A key member of the University’s executive team, the position will provide ultimate oversight for an extensive array of responsibilities which will include transformational projects of Monash Group importance, administration of the Vice-Chancellor’s strategic initiatives budget, and management of business and risk cases for all major investment initiatives.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in delivering University-wide strategic objectives and must be able to demonstrate:

  • A successful record of strategic leadership and holding major resource management responsibilities in a large, complex, entrepreneurial organisation that operates internationally;
  • Outstanding financial and technological acumen with proven experience effectively managing the processes and structures necessary to control significant budgets, resources and funding; and
  • A highly collegial and collaborative approach, well-developed diplomacy, communication and relationship-building skills, and the ability to deftly manage a broad span of duties and a wide range of stakeholders.
