About the team 

The Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery (LWAG) is a university art gallery of international standing that supports the teaching, research and engagement activities of the University of Western Australia. We do this through our exhibition program run in tandem with our public and academic programs, and the maintenance and display of the University of Western Australia Art Collection and the Cruthers Collection of Women’s Art.

The LWAG team is responsible for the custodianship and management of evolving, nationally significant art collections. The team delivers an annual program of intellectually rigorous and engaging exhibitions that contribute to the local and national arts landscapes. Exhibitions run in conjunction with a program of impactful and dynamic engagement and events, targeted to the various communities served by the gallery.

About the opportunity 

As the appointee you will, under general direction, provide a high level of administrative support to LWAG activities and assist with the establishment, maintenance and improvement of gallery and office systems, policies and procedures to ensure efficient operation.

You will also supervise the visitor experience and retail staff, coordinate public functions and oversee the day to day operations of the Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery and Dr Harold Schenberg Arts Centre.

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent competency
  • Substantial relevant administrative and retail experience at an appropriate level
  • Ability to train and supervise staff
  • Experience working in a University environment or similar large organisation and/or in a gallery or art museum
  • Understanding of gallery and museum security, environmental requirements and operations is desirable
