VE Teacher - Literacy/Numeracy Specialist

• Either a full-time x 1or part-time x 2 positions (0.6 FTE and 0.4 FTE), fixed term (to Dec 2024) opportunity
• Mostly at Hawthorn campus, with some courses at Wantirna and Croydon campuses
• T1 – T3.5 salary depending on qualifications and experience

About the Role 
The Swinburne Literacy/Numeracy (LN) specialist teacher plays a crucial role in improving student learning outcomes and experiences which shapes the future of education through inspiring, engaging, and educating students for the 21st century. 

You will be offered the opportunity to implement industry best practices, utilize cutting-edge learning technologies, and apply contemporary pedagogies to create a dynamic learning environment. Working collaboratively within a team of dedicated education professionals, the LN specialist teacher will have the chance to provide contextualised support to students, identify learning barriers, design tailored resources, and facilitate integrated delivery in a team-teaching setting. By customizing and adapting programs to meet the diverse needs of learners at various educational levels, this role empowers teachers to make a meaningful impact on student success and ensure the delivery of high-quality education and training programs.

About You  
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

• Demonstrated experience to identify student learning barriers and implement strategies to provide the necessary language, literacy, numeracy, and digital (LLND) support.
• Demonstrated experience in collaborating with VET trainers in providing LLND support.
• Demonstrated excellence or capacity to implement high quality, innovative approaches in teaching and assessment, using a variety of learning modes, which respond to diverse student learning needs.
• Demonstrated experience or the capacity to develop and conduct training programs directed to the needs of industry and the community.
• Demonstrated experience or the capacity to develop learning and assessment resources.
• Demonstrated awareness and understanding of Vocational Education and Training policies and frameworks.

• AQF Level 7 or above teaching qualification with relevant method in literacy, language, or numeracy including evidence of currency in related field.

AND

• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116)

OR 

• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110) including the following units:
  • TAELLN411 Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills or its successor, OR
  • TAELLN401A Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills

AND 

• • TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools or its successor, OR
  • TAEASS502A Design and develop assessment tools OR
  • TAEASS502B Design and develop assessment tools 

OR

• Diploma or higher level qualification in adult education
