Your new role 

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Refrigeration Technician to join our vibrant and creative Operations and Maintenance team. This role provides comprehensive technical support to maintain and enhance the University’s physical environment.  This includes preventative, breakdown and emergency maintenance.
In this role you will  

  • Undertake statutory, preventative, breakdown and emergency maintenance, analysing, diagnosing and resolving technical problems related to University’s physical infrastructure and systems. 
  • Repair, test and commission equipment/systems, as appropriate. 
  • Provide a coordinated and comprehensive client service whereby client requests for maintenance work are responded to in a positive and timely fashion. 
  • Provide clients with details such as estimated timeframes for work which needs to be carried out and advise of potential safety issues and disruptions to the area, keeping the client informed of delays and any other problems that arise in the course of the work being carried out. 
  • Provide accurate and up to date written reports and records pertaining to work carried out and materials used and update relevant maintenance management databases. 
  • Supervise and monitor maintenance work carried out by external contractors to ensure a satisfactory service is provided and to ensure compliance with University policy and procedures and statutory regulations and statutory regulations. 
  • Supervise and provide training and guidance to apprentices in the use of equipment, process and tools.

We are looking for someone with… 

  • Completion of a Certificate III (or Advanced/Post trade Certificate or equivalent) with extensive relevant experience. 
  • Possess a restricted electrical license and Australian Refrigeration Council accreditation. 
  • Demonstrated analytical and diagnostic skills. 
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. 
  • Demonstrated ability to organise workloads and priorities to meet deadlines and work objectives. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as effectively with others in a team. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Occupational Health and Safety principles and practices. 
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret hardware manuals, service manuals, and technical and construction drawings.
