About the role:

Under the broad direction of the Technical Service Manager, the Technical Services Team Leader will oversee the technical team supporting the unit delivery of undergraduate teaching in science disciplines and the operations of the faculty’s science facilities. The primary focus is to ensure the delivery of high-quality teaching support within budget constraints. Additionally, the incumbent will foster strong relationships with stakeholders and collaborate with academic teaching staff to ensure productive and effective unit teaching teams. This role serves as the primary point of contact for all users of science facilities and support services.

The Technical Services Team Leader position will be responsible for leading and managing the Faculty of Science Technical Services Team (Science), overseeing workload prioritisation and allocation, professional development and support, and ensuring effective technical support to UG unit delivery in laboratory environments. They will also manage resources, ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, cultivate stakeholder relationships and drive continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in team leadership and management, preferably in a technical or laboratory setting.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Good understanding of technical support requirements in a science teaching environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations and best practices in laboratory environments.
