The University of Adelaide is seeking a Technical Officer to join their Life & Earth Sciences team as they embark on an exciting period of change.
The Technical team Life and Earth Sciences support the internationally acclaimed and contemporary disciplines of molecular & cellular biology; ecology & environmental sciences; geology & earth sciences and genetics & evolution, supporting undergraduate and postgraduate education, training and research with both national relevance and global outreach and networks in the public and private sectors.
Working under general direction, the Technical Officer is responsible for coordinating research support services on the North Terrace Campus for the Faculty. The Technical Officer maintains accurate records of all research infrastructure and assets, ensuring compliance with Health, Safety and Wellbeing and legislative requirements. In addition, the position provides technical support to research academic and professional staff in relation to research facilities and infrastructure. The Technical officer supports a broad range of activities related to biology, ecology and biotechnology.
The successful candidates will have the ability to plan, prioritise and coordinate individual and team work activities to achieve goals and meet deadlines in a complex environment.
To be successful you will need:
- Demonstrated experience in a broad range of Biology, Biochemistry and or ecology skills.
- Knowledge in cell culture and sterile techniques.
- Demonstrated experience in laboratory and Physical containment 2 (PC2) management.
- Experience in maintenance of laboratory equipment, chemical handling and waste disposal processes.
- Experience with research equipment: developing SOP, RA, routine maintenance, liaising with contractor for equipment repair.
