About the Role 

Flinders University is at the cutting edge of clinical simulation nationally and is a world trailblazer in rural and regional health education. As the Technical Officer (Team Leader), you will collaborate with the Senior Manager to distribute team workloads and coordinate the day-to-day activities in Flinders clinical skills and simulation laboratories. With your leadership, you will be responsible to assume the functional duties of the Senior Technical Officer and/or Laboratory Manager in their absence.

 

You will harness your expertise in clinical simulation technologies to aid students during practical classes by providing technical advice, and demonstrating equipment, procedures, and techniques. You will also liaise with course coordinators, and academic staff from the College of Nursing and Health Sciences to prepare the laboratory environment for clinical skills workshops in accordance with university course requirements.

 

In this role, you will also:

  • Maintain, monitor, and supervise stock control for smooth operation of all programs.

  • Collate, record, report and resolve IT, AV and simulation equipment faults to minimise interruption to student learning.

  • Maintain current records relating to simulation information including products, licenses, software versions.

 

About You 

As a strong leader with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, you will maintain strong and collegial relationships with staff, students, manufacturers, industry partners, and company representatives.  Your natural ability to foster a positive and open team environment, will complement your ability to effectively supervise and coordinate staff. You will demonstrate a high degree of initiative, experience, and confidence in working with new and emerging simulation technologies, and you will apply your growth mindset to embrace change and challenges in healthcare technology. Your keen attention to detail will allow you to prioritise tasks, autonomously meet deadlines, and demonstrate commitment to high quality service delivery. 

 

To be successful in this position, you will be eligible for registration as a registered nurse or midwife with AHPRA and possess a current practicing certificate or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education and training relevant to the position. You will have a sound track record of working in a hospital or clinical skills simulation laboratory environment. You will have a demonstrated knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation, including management of hazardous substances.
