About the opportunity

This exciting role supports the Research and Education in the Susan Wakil Health Building and its operations, including maintenance of shared research Infrastructure, and provision of a safe working laboratory environment.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • provide expert technical support and assistance to academics, students and other staff in the labs
  • purchase and receive lab consumables
  • managing inventory and supplies for the relevant practical classes
  • train staff, visitors and students in the safe operation of lab equipment
  • ensure all the relevant Work, Health and Safety (WHS) standards are met and labs are compliant
  • maintain the laboratory workplace to ensure learning requirements are met effectively
  • prepare documentation and reports, including training and reporting, for the work area

About you

  • working experience with laboratory equipment
  • relevant degree in life sciences, or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • motivated self-starter who can take initiative
  • outstanding communication skills to deliver support to a variety of audiences
  • excellent organization and administrative skills
